It seems that most people believe one of the remaining classes will be using ranged weapons. What names, abilities, and play styles would you like to see incorporated into the new class? I personally would like to see a brigand type with one tree being ranged and having him be a light melee type as well. This would let you really use the switch weapon button and make for a fun hybrid play style. I also would like to see him dual wield but maybe have his be in place to differentiate him from the Barb. Any thoughts???

I agree and think that it's very important for the ranged character to have at least some sort of melee or close combat capabilities. Of course nothing like the Barbarian or whatever, but at least something. I wouldn't like to call them a hybrid though - they should definitely be all out ranged. (Although maybe another class could be 50/50 hybrid!)

Well if he was both ranged and melee skilled, wouldnt that make him a hybrid. The most fun playing styles are usually when you can do at least 2 different fighting styles with the same character. I just think that since the amazon had so many bow skills (my least favorite being sit in one place, hit a button, and hit everything on screen with a powerful attack---way too strong) that the new ranged character should have the option but not have the focus of her skills be ranged. Make her different than the amazon with a new name. Already the first 3 mirror their predicesors too closely for my comfort. Not complaining too much though. Looks like a great game and the destructable environment will make a huge difference. Do you think the sorc (wizard) will be able to use telekinesis to bring down the walls on her foes?

well i think they should be able to. however for the ranger i believe it should be a like hybrid class like that of D&D(3.5) they should have a melee, a ranged and a magic. BUt not very power in any which encourages interweaving the abilities in combat. That would make the game fun but challenging... but then he could look cool to trick new ppl playing to play it lol

The idea of a Ranger or Hunter class might be seen. Good use of a bow, daggers for short range, and the use of herbalism (for all of the people who insist it will be a "healer" class). That class really is the only thing missing from the line-up. You have the magic, brute force, and now stealth and tactics.

WoW-style hunter class is actually a good idea. Amazon in D2 has weakness in melee combat. With help of a pet, you can always keep enemies in range. With this concept, however, the game needs a proper, detailed aggro system - which is a tough decision for the designers :)
